I need to know the genre of the music back in the 50's like big bands like duke ellington and stuff
What is the name of that genre that african americans use when they did the lindy hop?
swing dancing? im not sure though
Reply:I think the lindy hop was done in the forties. Big band music was called "Big band music" or "Swing". Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan, etc were in the forties. The fifties had rhythm and blues, and shortly after that was rock and roll. Got carried away--you didnt ask for a book to be written.
Reply:Big band is a type of music you know. It's an offshoot of jazz and is probably what you are talking about. It was popular during the time the Duke was around too.
