What is the most polite name to call an African-American?

Just black or do you call them African-American? I know for sure not to call them n#ggers. Do they mind being called black? Im trying to be anti-racial here.

What is the most polite name to call an African-American?
Black Brother

If they're Black, they're Black (It's not like you can called him "White")... but we're all human, hence "Brother" is used to show that we are alike.
Reply:If they weren't born in Africa, didn't emmigrate from Africa to America, and were BORN in the United States then they are simply AMERICANS. My ancestry is German and Scottish, but I don't expect to be called German-Scottish American. And blacks refer to me as 'white'-- a color (don't think I've ever been described by black friends as 'that caucasion chick'), thus I call them by a color-- black.
Reply:Umm, well I'm mixed Latina and Black. And I don't really care what you call as long as you don't mean to be offensive. But you can't assume that all black people think the same way. Some might be offended if you call them Black and some don't care... I think that just calling them people or African-American is most polite though.
Reply:I like the term African American it sounds more intellectual even though no one in this country is American actually maybe except the indians but if you call me black well,hey my skin is brown but ah do people still use negro I know I do when I'm talking to family but hey that's just me.

O my gosh man I typed in Neg*o and they blinked it out is it a bad word.
Reply:I'd ask them. African-American is the most politically correct, I think, but what if they don't live in America? I think most don't mind being called black, and I think some prefer it. Just ask them what they prefer to be referred to as, I'm sure they won't mind.
Reply:Why are you so worried about being PC..Call them whatever the hell you want as long as it isnt a racial slur.

Not all blacks are African American, so if you see a black person its best you just be safe and call them black.
Reply:I THINK AFRICAN-AMERICAN ACKNOWLEDGES THE BLACK MAN'S EXPERIENCE AND THE LONG JOURNEY FROM THE AFRICAN WORLD TO THE NEW WORLD. TO EVEN CONSIDER THE WORD ''******' SAYS MORE ABOUT YOU THAN YOUR QUESTION DOES. THAT SLANG SHOULD BE PURGED.
Reply:I would per fer being called by my name. If your being anti-racial, call a person by their name and avoid any and all possible complications.
Reply:ive been wondering the same question ? i try to call african

americans , african americans , but sometimes the work

' black ' just slips out , but idk if thats wrong or not %26gt;.%26lt;
Reply:i say black. since i'm brown and my black brothers and sisters say ******, so do i. do i use it to be mean, heck no. i just think that it is just a word. with history, of course.
