It's for HW. I've looked everywhere and I can't find it. I did the other 34 but I can't find this one.
Whats the name of the African American who spent 24 years in a South American Prison?
Nelson Mandela spent 27 years as a political prisoner in South Africa, not 24 years. He wasn't an African American. He was a South African it can be difficult if you don't read the question carefully.
Patrick Chamusso was sentenced to 24 years he served 10.
Patrick Chamusso, Though he was completely innocent, the police suspected him of helping the African National Congress (ANC) gain access to the plant. South African police at that time had the power to hold people suspected of political crimes indefinitely, without access to a lawyer or family. Patrick is brutally interrogated by the country鈥檚 Police Security Branch, led by Colonel Nic Vos. His wife is also jailed and tortured. The torture was so harsh that when he was released, Patrick was a changed man. After having avoided political involvement for all of his life, he now decided that he had suffered needless trauma for a reason, and so he had to do something. The experience spurs Patrick into action and he leaves his family to join up with the ANC and become a freedom fighter and political operative.
A massive manhunt ensues and six days later Patrick is caught. He was held for nine months without trial, and brutally tortured. At his trial Patrick was found guilty on three counts of contravening the Terrorism Act (undergoing training in Mozambique and belonging to an illegal organization; committing sabotage; and unlawfully possessing arms and explosives), and was sentenced to 24 years in prison. He served nearly 10 years on Robben Island until he was amnestied and released in late 1991, along with Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners.
Reply:Nelson Mandela. A peace advocate and true inspiration to the oppressed. He was against the unjust African government... or something like that.......
Reply:It was not Nelson Mandela he spent 27 years in prison in his home country of South Africa not South America.
Are you sure it was a prison in a South American country?
Do you know which country?
