Can you name some good communities in San Diego that have a good African-American population?

My family is moving to San Diego. Just trying to find nice place for my parents to check out.

There are some really good people in the Encanto and Valencia Park areas of San Diego. Martin Luther King Jr Library is close to Euclid Avenue and Market Street. That is right around the corner from the Euclid Trolley Station off of the Orange Line Trolley for the SD MTS Trolley System.

San Diego is so integrated with every kind of nationality and ethnic background that any area would be good, but I would also try to do some other kind of research.

Are they going to buy a house because SD is VERY EXPENSIVE for buying houses.
Reply:I'll answer your question by taking a slightly different approach by telling you areas to avoid. The area that is probably the most racist is east county: El Cajon, Santee, Lakeside; another area to watch out for for overt racism is the northern part of San Diego County along the interstate 15 corridor (Fallbrook area). By that I do not mean that all, or even most people are racist in those areas. Unfortunately however, those who are racist seems to end up in higher concentrations in these areas.

I think that African Americans can live in other areas safely without overt racism from neighbors.

Most majority African American neighborhoods are along the highway 94 corridor (check out a SD area map). They tend to be lower middle class areas; unfortunately not real good schools in some of those neighborhoods.
Reply:well the view and city heights south east over by rosa park there are african american people, but diego its a place where you find a mix of all races well i used to lived in city heights so there are some in city height but the po po's bother everyone so much who's knows were anyone kicks it any more
Reply:Not sure what that means. San Diego is an ethnically diverse town, and mostly a tolerant population. Where I lived, we were mixed with Mexicans, African-Americans, Asians and us white folk and we all got along really well. That was in Eastlake / Otay Ranch area of Chula Vista. Maybe they should start there?
Reply:lets see, theres Skyline, Encanto, Paradise Hills, Chollas Park, Normal Heights, City Heights... but any where in the city or county would do just fine... SD is very diverse... except for Santee.. that area has a lot of haters
Reply:city heights..but thats the ghetto its full of mexicans asians and african americans..lots of them
Reply:I have never seen a good African-American population....
