If Obama is an African-American Christian why is his middle name Hussein?

Isn't that a Muslim middle name? People get upset when it is said that he is Muslim, so how did that name get there? I quite frankly do not care if he is Muslim, I just want the truth.

Reply:What's in a name? I don't know if it's true or not, but I don't care what his middle name is. What's yours? And do you think your middle name should determine whether you get a job? Even if he were a muslim, what is wrong with that? Christians have murdered many more people than muslims have or ever will! So if you don't care if he's a muslim, stop caring about his middle name! By the way, he's a christian, and I'm voting for him anyway!

But you want to just know the truth? He's let you know his religious affiliation already. If you don't believe his answer lets see what evidence you have that supports your 'gut feeling'..

Reply:It's an Arabic name I think, meaning "of God". If you don't care, why ask? His father was Muslim I think, he isn't, neither is his mother or grandmother (who raised him). Also, if you want to name your child chipmunk, it's on you, none of my business what you name them.
Reply:Y'know, I once heard a rumour that parents are allowed to call their children pretty much whatever name they like! I know, it's MAD isn't it??? Apparently you don't even have to call your kids any of the names associated with your ethnicity or gender or religion or anything! CRAZY!

Reply:Many African Americans have arabic names without being muslim. That doesn't mean anything.





ex. Malik, Tariq, Jamal, Amir, Jihad. I know tons of Blacks with those names.
Reply:He was named after his African Muslim father and grandfather. You don't inherit your religion based on a name. Obama's father left when he was two, and he wasn't raised a Muslim, so get over it.
